Monte Palace Tropical Garden

Monte Palace Tropical Garden is a 70,000 square meter masterpiece located 600 meters above Funchal. It features an incredible collection of exotic plants from all over the world, koi ponds, oriental gardens, and one of the world's most important collections of tiles (azulejos).

How to Get to Monte Palace by Bus

Monte Palace is located right next to the Monte Cable Car station and the Church of Our Lady of Monte. It is very easy to reach via Funchal urban buses, which drop you off just steps from the entrance.

The gardens are easy to reach — urban buses 20, 21 and 48 (€1,45) stop steps from the entrance, right by the Monte cable car. So this is purely for visitors who'd rather take a guided tuk-tuk ride up to the gardens (sponsored) More options ↓
